Fountain Gallery's 10th Annual Celebration of Life

Fountain Gallery, the premier venue in New York City representing artists with mental illness, welcomed more than 500 guests to its 10th Annual Celebration of Life Benefit on Monday, November 14, 2011, at The Prince George Ballroom in New York City.

This collaboration of the commercial real estate industry and the New York arts community with Fountain Gallery benefited the Gallery’s member-artists, who displayed 100 original artworks for sale.

Celebration of Life recognized three recipients of the Esther Montanez Leadership Award, established to honor the memory of Fountain Gallery’s founding director. Montanez was a tireless advocate for people with mental illness throughout her long career at Fountain House, the Gallery’s parent organization, until her death in 2006.

The 2011 recipients of the Esther Montanez Leadership Award are: Rick Froio, Managing Partner, Atlas-Acon Electric Service Corp.; John Ambrosini, Executive Managing Director and Director of Property Management and Construction, ABS Partners Real Estate, LLC; and The Renate, Hans and Maria Hofmann Trust. Trustee Patricia Gallagher accepted the Award on behalf of the Trust.

Co-Chairs of the event were: Earle Altman, Peter L. DiCapua, Matt Duthie, Carmel W. Fromson, Dario Gristina, Carl T. Hagberg, Leslie Harwood, John McGinley, Jerry Schumm, and Andrew Stenzler. Gristina and Schumm are Co-Founders of Celebration of Life. Vice-Chairs: Rich Hiler, Marcia Mann, JuneAnn Patrick, Mary Pontillo, Melissa Shafton, and Gabriel Stefania.

Fountain Gallery was founded by Fountain House in 2000 as a not-for-profit exhibition space for artists living and working with mental illness. The Gallery sells original artworks and collaborates with a wide network of artists, curators and cultural institutions. Embracing artists who are emerging or established, trained or self-taught, Fountain Gallery cultivates artistic growth and makes a vital contribution to the New York arts community.
