2011 Silver Hill Hospital Gala

The 2nd Annual Silver Hill Hospital Gala was held on Thursday, November 3rd at Cipriani 42nd Street, New York.

Emmy-nominated Carrie Fisher – esteemed author, award winning actress and former patient of Silver Hill – was honored for her advocacy work on behalf of mental illness. There were 350 guests in attendance.

Michael Cominotto and Dennis Basso, who inspired the first gala event in 2010, served as honorary co-chairs for 2011. This year, through their generous efforts, $350,000 was raised for scholarships for patients needing financial aid to fund residential treatment at the hospital.

In 1931 renowned psychiatrist Dr. John Millett was searching for a setting close to New York to open a small residential mental health clinic, and chose a picturesque farmhouse in New Canaan, Connecticut. In just a few short years, Silver Hill achieved national recognition as a top tier psychiatric hospital, revered for expert and compassionate treatment for patients struggling with mental illness or addiction. Today, Silver Hill, a not-for-profit hospital, provides comprehensive inpatient, residential and outpatient programs for adolescents and adults covering the full spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses.
